CONNECTOR
INTEGRATION SRI
HERMETICS specializes in
the design and manufacture of high performance hermetic connectors
and the processes to install these connectors. SRI is fully capable
of all of the standard solder integration processes as well as laser
weld integration. SRI is a "One Stop Shop". Our engineers creatively
meet your needs based on year's of experience in the applications
that are important to users of hermetic packaging. (See Products for

ADVANCED PROCESSES & MATERIALS
SRI HERMETICS creates unique solutions by
using advanced processes such as laser welding, explosion welding or
diffusion bonding. This allows us to combine some of the best
materials into one solution that provides optimum performance for
all conditions. SRI HERMETICS provides fully connectorized
electronic packaging in many materials including aluminum, titanium,
stainless steel, copper alloys, aluminum composite,
copper/molybdenum composite as well as the conventional ferrous
alloys like alloy 46 and Kovar. SRI has the technology to combine
many of these materials to give our customers the optimum material
performance for weight, thermal conductivity, thermal expansion and
cover sealing processes. One example of this technology is our
aluminum composite titanium packaging. The aluminum composite
material provides excellent weight, thermal and CTE properties while
the titanium provides a surface to laser weld a cover. into place.

We have the equipment necessary to provide laser welding,
inert gas soldering, and other hermetics processes. Our testing
processes are part of our standard production work and include
testing to the highest industry standards as required by your
specification.
Production methods include quality monitoring
to assure that specifications are met. Our production techniques
with our laser welding equipment allow the joining of small
components with none of the damaging excess heat normally introduced
by other methods and other companies. To create superior connector
and component assemblies, we have soldering and brazing processes
that result in better products for you. Utilizing our infrared
conveyor furnace in combination with reducing gases we produce
product with clean, flux-less solder/braze joints. The result is the
ability to join together materials that cannot be laser welded. The
customer benefits from the use of this process, when it is
appropriate, because it results in a lower cost product than laser
welding.
Our product designs include proprietary processes
to enable us to exceed the results obtained with other widely used
methods. SRI HERMETICS is able to produce aluminum,
titanium, stainless steel, copper or ferrous alloy connectors with
pin materials such as copper, inconel, titanium, platinum, alumel,
chromel and others. This wide array of material choices is made
possible through the use of SRI's exclusive dielectric material,
Ceramax.
DATA EXCHANGE: We use Solidworks for our 3D design
work allowing exchanging of computer files with customers. So our
customers can take full advantage of our design
capabilities.
CERAMAX® Ceramax® is not
glass. Glass is fragile and propagates cracks. Glass cannot be
considered completely reliable because the electronic package is
exposed to environmental stress that could cause the class seal to
fail at any time during its mission whether the unit is in the field
or in storage.
Ceramax® is a
proprietary ceramic compound. It is 5 times more resistant to
fracturing than the best glass due to its non-amorphous, crystalline
structure. It will not propagate cracks. Ceramax®s fusing
temperature is much lower than typical hermetic glasses which makes
the stress on the hermetic seal much less due to the lower
temperature differential between the fusing temperature and the
lowest operating temperature of the electronic package.
Ceramax® can
seal to copper alloy pins while glass can only seal to ferrous alloy
pins, such as Kovar or Alloy 52. The typical pin material used in
SRI HERMETICS connectors is BeCu. Beryllium Copper is a
much better electrical conductor than copper and is also a good
spring material which allows SRI to design active spring contacts
into its hermetic connectors; impossible with glass-to metal-seal
technology. These products will remain hermetic during your
assembly, testing, storage and usage.

METAL BONDING
SRI HERMETICS can
manufacture connectors using dissimilar metals. Our
technology allows the customer to get the material
of choice in his connector while providing SRI with
the optimum material to use for the hermetic seal.
This unique combination of preferred materials in the
manufacture of hermetic connectors allows SRI to create
connectors from titanium, aluminum, copper or any other
metal material while maintaining the highest quality
and reliability in the dielectric seal area of the

COMPOSITE
MATERIALS
SRI HERMETICS can
manufacture aluminum composite connectors that are
designed to be laser weldable to typical aluminum alloys
such as 6061, 4047, 4032, 2219 and others. This technology
