SRI Hermetics uses an advanced ceramic dielectric
material known as Ceramax as its primary sealing insulator. Ceramax
is a phase changing compound that provides superior hermetic
reliability and outstanding electrical performance with an
operational temperature range of -269C to +450C. Ceramax
seals are compatible with high expansion metal alloys giving
SRI Hermetics the ability to seal copper alloy contacts into
connector shell materials not possible with competing technologies. Aluminum,
titanium and high expansion stainless steel alloys are just
a few of the shell materials available to choose from.
Although our Ceramax technology offers many advantages over
standard sealing methods there are still applications where
glass is a better suited dielectric. Glass
feedthroughs are particularly useful for high frequency match impedance connectors
due to the crystalline amorphous properties of the glass which promote low loss
signal transmissions.
SRI Hermetics has a full line of laser weldable RF connectors
that utilize glass as their dielectric and although glass seals
have a reputation for hermetic failure they become very reliable
when the design of the feedthrough permits the glass to remain
in a neutral stress condition. All of our laser weldable RF feedthroughs
possess this feature and are immune to failure caused by stress such as thermal
cyclic fatigue. |
